🎤JESUS BECAME ONE LIKE US TO SAVE US

Following the prophecy of Isaiah, the name of the child to be born the saviour is Immanuel, which means, God is with us (Isa 7:14). That prophecy is interpreted as having its perfect fulfilment in Jesus (Matt 1:23).

Rightly so, Jesus came and immersed himself in the midst of the people. Remember what we said on Sunday concerning his baptism; he joined the queue of sinners going for baptism that he might identify with them.

The Letter to the Hebrews reiterated the above points strongly (cf. Heb 2:14-18). Having been part of us, he is so familiar with our problems that he desires always to give us hope and respite.

He knows about your situation right now and he desires to assist you. But he wants you to tell him about it, the same way he was told of illness of Peter’s mother-in-law. He came into the house with the rest, and so should have known about the situation but they needed to tell him (cf. Mark 2:29-30).

Telling Jesus about the situation is an exercise of faith in him. That is the essence of prayer. It brings you into terms with the plans of God for your life. Jer 29:11 says that that plan is meant to give you peace, hope and future.

Can you not kneel down and pray to God to make that plans of his manifest in your life? He says in Jer 29:12, “When you call upon me and come and pray to me, I will listen to you.” He is not tired of listening! Why then must you be tired to ask him?

Don’t allow that problem to weigh you down. Take it to God in prayer. And may your faith and hope in God never fail you through the same Christ our Lord. Amen.

Have a victorious day ahead. Peace be with you.
