LOVE ONE ANOTHER AS I HAVE LOVED YOU

????Exod 32:7-14; Ps 106:19-20, 21-22, 23 (R.v.4a); John 5:31-47

Betrayals, envy, over-ambition, pride, selfishness…name them! They are endless! These are the ills that destroy our world today. We are so power conscious that we use others as foot mats and steps while aiming at greatness.

Just imagine how beautiful this world would be when we all try to emulate the humility, selflessness and the intercessory role of Moses. God made him a promise that would have made him very successful but that is to the detriment of others. So he refused and instead pleaded with God to forgive others who had sinned (cf. Exod 32:7-14).

Imagine that you see yourself in a position of Moses where the destruction of others would lead to your promotion or success! What will you do?

Through the story of Cain and Abel, God teaches us to shun hatred, envy and betrayals and be our brother’s keeper (cf. Gen 4). That is what Jesus points at when he said, “Love one another as I have loved you” (John 13:34). LOVE is the point!

May God help us to love even those who we see as our enemies (Matt 5:43-45) so that we may contribute to making the world a place of harmony. Amen.

Have a lovely day ahead. Peace be with you.
