“…BECAUSE YOU HAVE DONE THIS…I WILL INDEED BLESS YOU” (Gen 22:16-17)

⏰Thursday of the Thirteenth Week of Ordinary Time 1 (06 July 2017)

????Gen 22:1-19; Ps 116:1-2, 3-4, 5-6, 8-9 (R.v.9); Matt 9:1-8

Every action we take in life has its corresponding consequence. The blessing of Abraham which we always sing about was a result of his deep faith in God which made him to want to go on with the plans to sacrifice his son (cf. Gen 22:1-10) despite the seeming hopelessness of getting another.

That is faith in action! Remember that Jesus said that even our little faith can move mountains (cf. Matt 17:20). So, just as Abraham’s faith won him more blessings (Gen 22:17) so did the faith of the friends of the paralyzed man get him the desired healing (cf. Matt 19:1-8).

Comparing that periscope (Matt 9:1-8) with its Markan parallel (Mark 2:1-12), we shall see that those friends of the paralyzed man also faced some hitches but the never allowed that to affect their faith.

How do you normally manage life challenging situations that come your way daily? Are you among the type of people who would readily abandon God in search of an already-made solutions from the devil?

The psalmist said those who put their trust in the Lord are like Mount Zion that cannot be shaken but stands forever (Ps 125:1). And the prophet Isaiah added that “[they] will renew their strength…soar as with eagle’s wings…run and not grow weary…walk and never grow tired” (Isa 40:31).

May the Lord increase our faith so that we may love and trust him above all things, and so gain all the good things we desire from him. Amen.

I wish you a healthy and joyful day ahead. Peace be with you.
