🎤”LAY UP FOR YOURSELVES TREASURES IN HEAVEN” (Matt 6:20)

In our world that is bedeviled by quest for consumerism and vain glory, the message of Jesus in Matt 6:19-23 makes an important meaning to us. What is the goal of my worship to God? Is it for the glory of God or for my own glory?

Like Jesus who encouraged us to seek eternal treasure, St Paul reminds us in 2 Cor 11:18-30 of the importance of seeking heavily glory than boasting of heavenly exploits. For what shall it profit a man if he gains the whole world and suffer the loss of his own soul? (Mark 8:36)

Our Catechism of Christian Doctrine teaches us that God made us to know him, to love him, to serve him in this world and be happy with him in the next. It would be a tragedy if our happiness lies in this world instead of the next.

May God grant us the grace to remain focused on eternal treasure instead of the perishable earthly treasure, so that our happiness in the next world shall be guaranteed even as we beg him to also grant us joy in our service here on earth. Amen.

Have a very happy day. It is well with you.
