WELCOME AND ACCEPT JESUS
⏰Wednesday of the Thirteenth Week of Ordinary Time 2 (04 July 2018)
đź“–Amos 5:14-15, 21-24; Ps 50:7, 8-9, 10-11, 12-13, 16bc-17 (R.v.23bc); Matt 8:28-34
That is a popular saying! Abi no be so? Surely! But the question remains: HOW? Is it by being regular at Mass or Church gatherings; attending crusades, daily study of the scripture, long days of dry fasting, making fat donations to the Church? All these are quite important as they would help draw us closer to God and God’s people. Yet, only one thing is really very important: LOVE (1Cor. 13:1-13).
Jesus summarized all that is required into love of God and love of neighbour (Mark 12:30-31). If we understand this well and follow it, then it will not be difficult for us to follow the teachings of the prophet Amos in Amos 5:14-24.
There the prophet reminds us to “Hate evil, and love good, and establish justice in the gate; it may be that the Lord, God of hosts, will be gracious to the remnant of Joseph” (Amos 5:15).
Can you replace ‘the remnant of Joseph’ in that prophecy with your family name? Yes, you can. You can also replace that with our country Nigeria especially at this time of great insecurity and bloodshed everywhere. But first, we must shun evil and injustice and embrace good and justice. Only then can Jesus come and dwell in us so as to bless us and be gracious to us.
Kindly join us in praying for the safe release of all the abducted and kidnapped people in Nigeria. Join us with faith.
May God never abandon us as we place all our trust in him. Amen.
Have a gracious and peaceful day before God our loving Father. Peace be with you.
