“THE MERCY OF THE LORD IS EVERLASTING UPON THOSE WHO HOLD HIM IN FEAR” (Ps 103:17)
Do you realise that there is nothing about you that is hidden to God? Why? He created you in his image and placed you in the position you occupy right now. Hence, the book of Sirach reminds us that our ways are always open before him (Sir 17:15).
My dear, it is true that, two days ago, we were warned against scandals. But that was not a licence to transfer our sins to the secret places of our lives. Even though men might not see such, God sees us through as we are.
Why not make a resolution today to firmly resist every temptation especially those ones which suggests to you that nobody is watching you? Jesus already gives us the antidote that we need in order to achieve that – childlike faith (Mark 10:14ff)!
Children are known for their simplicity, total trust and humble dependence. At the time of Jesus, they were regarded as nothing outside their parents. But in the presence of Jesus, they become something – models of the members of the kingdom. Do you remember that saying of Jesus that whoever humbles himself will be exalted (cf. Matt 23:12)?
Yes! God has created us higher than all other beings and given us great authority. However, the book of Sirach cautions us not to forget from what we were made – dust; and unto dust we shall return (Sir 17:1). So why the pride when all we are is simply dust?
May the purge us of all that bloat us and may never allow us to forget that our ways are always open before him, so that we may do his will at all times and gain a place in his kingdom in the end. Amen.
I wish you a faithful and restful weekend. Peace be with you.
and with your spirit, amen.
