????”WHAT THEREFORE GOD HAS JOINED TOGETHER, LET NO MAN PUT ASUNDER” (Mark 10:10)
My dear, God has made us for himself, and he continues to take care of us in all situations. Sometimes, difficulties and distractions can come our way and affect us badly to an extent that we begin to question if God is still on the throne. Yet, his presence among us is everlasting (cf. Matt 28:20).
So, the book of Sirach tells us today what shall make that presence always remain felt – friendship with one another. The kind of friendship here is one which is unselfish, adds sweetness to life and seek and fear the Lord.
As Christians, who are called to be united in love, those elements of friendship are necessary to help us work for peace and mutual respect. There is no better place to begin the practice of that than in the family.
Therefore, Jesus reminds us that the original intention of God for marriage is for everlasting communion. To achieve this intention, the individual couples must see that the good of the other couple takes precedence over the quest for their personal good.
Do you know of any relationship that is about to hit the rock? Let one of the couples swallow his/her pride and begin to show faithful and unconditional love to the other and invite God. Things will surely work out for the better.
May the Lord heal all breaking and broken marriages, and enable us to be faithful friends to one another so as to to be united in love as members of one big family of God. Amen.
Have a faithful day ahead. Peace be with you.
Lord, God of host help us to remain united in the union you have brought to. Help families experiencing crack and disunity in their relationship come together again in love. Thank you father. Do have a grace filled day
