“…THE SKIN OF HIS FACE SHONE BECAUSE HE HAD BEEN TALKING WITH GOD” (Exod 34:29)

⏰Wednesday of the Seventeenth Week of Ordinary Time 1 (02 August 2017)

????Exod 34:29-35; Ps 99:5, 6, 7, 9 (R.v.9c); Matt 13:44-46

In Luke 14:26-33, Jesus gives a condition for becoming his disciple – the applicant must be ready to give up everything else in order to be fully committed to Jesus. That is indeed a wise thing to do and Jesus today compares it with the action of a merchant who sells everything he has so that he can buy a treasure-laden field or a fine pearl of high value. What is it that you are required to give up in other to follow Jesus? Are you to do so?

It is indeed wise to do so because Jesus is a story changer. Just as the treasure-laden field or the fine pearl of high value is expected to change the level of any man that gets either of them, so does Jesus change the life of anyone who finds him.

????In Matt 9:20-22, the woman with the issue of blood encountered Jesus and the blood flow stopped;
????In Mark 5:1-20, a demoniac encountered Jesus and a legion of demons left him;
????In Luke 9:12-17, his presence to the people meant food in abundance for the people to eat and remain;
????In John 2:1-11, his presence at the wedding feast at Cana saw the appearance of abundant and better wine.

The list is endless! And I’m sure that if you take a step to encounter him, your miracle shall also be added to the number. Amen.

Note however that the greatest thing that is expected from that encounter is transformation. Moses encountered God and his face became radiant. In our encounter with him, not only our face but also our hearts must become radiant because “the Lord our God is holy” (Ps 99:9).

As you encounter him today, may he transform your life and give you more reasons to testify to his goodness. Amen.

Kindly remember the priests in your prayers, especially those facing life threatening challenges at the moment. May God rescue them from the clutches of the evil powers. Amen.

Peace be with you.
