STAND OUT FOR CHRIST!

⏰Wednesday of the Thirty-Third Week of Ordinary Time 1 (23 November 2017)

????1 Macc 2:15-29; Ps 50:1-2, 5-6, 14-15 (R.v.23bc); Luke 19:41-44

Jesus is close by in the city! Can you not feel his approaching presence? He is the Prince of Peace and the Lord of Lords (see Isa 9:6; Eph 2:7). He has come into our life to bring us peace. Unfortunately, we are joining the world not to recognise him (cf. John 1:10). Hence, he weeps over our city (cf. Luke 19:41) as he wept at the death of Lazarus (cf. John 11:35).

It tells me that not to know Jesus is sequel to death but to know him means peace. Do you know Jesus?

Remember that knowing Jesus is bigger than what we profess with our mouth (see Mark 7:6). In 1 Macc 2:15-29, we see a practical distinction between the two. Mattathias and his family overlooked the possible punishment from the king and chose to stand with God. But another Jew came up and, in a bid to save his life, despised God.

Where do you stand? The voice of Joshua rings out again for us this morning, “Make known today whom you shall serve” (Josh 24:15). I stand for Christ. Choose him too so that you may enjoy peace in this life and in the next.

Have a peaceful day ahead. Peace be with you.
