⏰Monday of the Second Week in Ordinary Time 1 – Week of Prayer for Christian Unity (21 Jan 2019)

🎤PRAY FOR YOUR PRIESTS; PRAY FOR ME
It is the will of God that all things be gathered together under Christ. Christ himself prayed that we may be one. It is through that that we might join hand to defeat our common enemy – the devil and all his agents. So we pray in this week that God himself may heal the wound of division among Christians so that with one voice, we shall march on victoriously in all things. Amen
According to the Letter to the Hebrews (Heb 5:1-4), a priest is one who is chosen by God to be an intermediary/emissary between God and man. This one who is chosen is also a man who is not shielded from human weakness. That means, he is not a saint; he can err just like every other person.
It takes the grace of God to make a saint out of a priest. So instead of criticising that your priest whom you think is not doing well, pray for him. Do you know of any priest who thinks that he is already a saint? He needs the prayer more.
We are all sinners in need of God’s grace, and that grace comes from Jesus Christ, the High Priest. When a priest has a personal relationship with Jesus, he is energized, like the disciples who needed not to fast because Jesus was with them (cf. Mark 2:18-22). In that way, he is able to work more in the Lord’s vineyard for the good of God’s children.
So pray for your priests, pray for me. Pray that we may always live our lives in imitation of Jesus. And as you do so, may Jesus the bridegroom of the wedding feast also make you one of his guests so that you may gain all the good things you desire in life, through Christ our Lord. Amen.
Have a grace-filled and prosperous working week ahead. Peace be with you.
