GOD CAN DO ALL THINGS!

⏰Wednesday of the Ninth Week in Ordinary Time 1 (02 June 2021)

đź“–Tob 3:1-11, 16-17a; Ps 25:2-3, 4-5ab, 6 and 7bc, 8-9 (R.v.1); Mark 12:18-27

Our view of life influences how we embrace it. For those who believe that everything ends in this present world, anything goes. And they can afford to live as they wish without the thought of eternal life. But we believe that there is life after death where those who have died go into eternal bliss or eternal damnation.

The Sadducees belong to the elite class among the Jews. Things were obviously going well for them and so they could afford not to believe in the resurrection. Did the scriptures not say it that in his riches, man lacks wisdom (cf. Ps 49)? The question in Mark 12:19-23 to Jesus was in order to ridicule that belief.

In his response to them, Jesus exposed their real problem which is the undermining of the power of God. God can do all things, which includes raising the dead to new life.

Tobit and Sarah discovered that power of God and made recourses to him for liberation from their problems. And God heard them and came to save them (cf. Tob 3:1-17).

Do you trust the power of God to save you?

Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego trusted in that power and were saved. But they also passed a teaching to us, even if God does not save them physically, they will still not commit sin by worshipping the King’s image (cf. Dan 3:16-18).

May God also grant us the grace of fortitude in the face of difficulties so that we may remain steadfast in the profession of our faith. And may he deliver us from all evil that befall us. Amen.

Have a healthy and miraculous day ahead. Peace be with you.
