YOUR PROBLEMS HAVE EXPIRY DATE!

⏰Friday of the Eleventh Week of Ordinary Time 2 (22 June 2018)

📖2 Kgs 11:1-4, 9-18, 20; Ps 132:11, 12, 13-14, 17-18 (R.v.13); Matt 6:19-23

After her mother terrorised the Northern Kingdom of Israel with her evils and false religion, Athaliah the daughter of Ahab and Jezebel tried to ply her mother’s kind of business in Judah, the kingdom of David. He tried to challenge God by making sure his promise to David, that his dynasty would last forever is not fulfilled. But God cannot be challenged because all authority belong to him.

Read that story and see for yourself. Evil cannot thrive over the children of God forever. You may for sometime have to bear being plagued by all sorts trials (see 1 Pet 1:6) but never lose your hope on God because in him we are more than conquerors (Rom 8:37). The evils that befall you or the difficulties you are passing through right now would also be conquered just as Queen Athaliah was conquered (2 Kgs 11:15-16).

However, you need to make a contribution to that victory process. Jesus tells us in the Gospel of Matthew, “Store up treasures for yourself with God” (Matt 6:20). That means, put your trust on God and not on material security. Remember that “those who put their trust in the Lord are like Mount Zion that cannot be shaken and which stands forever (Ps 125:1).

May God never fail you as you make this resolution to trust him even more in all your endeavours. Amen.

Have a beautiful day ahead under the protective watch of God. Amen. Peace be with you dear.
