“ARISE, SHINE; FOR YOUR LIGHT HAS COME, AND THE GLORY OF THE LORD HAS RISEN UPON YOU”
SOLEMNITY OF THE EPIPHANY OF THE LORD
Isa 60:1-6; Psalm 72:1-2, 7-8, 10-11, 12-13 (R.v.11); Eph 3:2-3a, 5-6; Matt 2:1-12
“ARISE, SHINE; FOR YOUR LIGHT HAS COME, AND THE GLORY OF THE LORD HAS RISEN UPON YOU”
In the solemnity of the Epiphany of the Lord, we celebrate Gods revelation of himself to all of humanity, unhindered by any human limitation.
The Magi in the Gospel of today got this revelation through their astrology. That shows that God can reveal himself through any means or person he chooses. This calls us to guard against discrimination of any kind in our Christian living.
The Second Reading makes that point very clear. God calls both Jews and Gentiles to benefit from the salvation which Christ has won for us.
In addition, we must learn from the Magi to always be conscious of the message that God is passing across to us through our environment and our daily experience and make effort to have a positive and prompt response to his call.
God still offers us this invitation in our everyday life and experience. How are we able to understand and interpret the messages from these daily events.
In this celebration, Christ enlightens the darkness of mens heart and the ignorance of the gentiles, thereby winning them over to God. We are equally called to carry on this task as we go around professing our Christian faith.
This is a celebration of hope because this enlightenment is also meant to dispel whatever darkens our life and our way. With this light, the darkness of unproductivity and backwardness gives way to the light of fruitfulness and open doors.
The glory of the Lord shall surely manifest in and through you. Amen.
No matter your status in the society, Jesus equally invites you as he invites every other person to share in that light. May God help us to answer positively to this invitation and so share well in the joy of his coming. Amen. And may the joy of Christs coming be felt once more in all the ends of the earth through us. And may his light dispel the darkness of unproductivity and backwardness from your life and family and radiate fruitfulness and open doors through the same Christ our Lord. Amen.
Have a wonderful experience of the Lord today. Peace be with you.
Amen.Fr,it is well with you too
Amen
