THE LOWLY ONE CALLED AND THE LORD HEARD HIM (cf. Ps 34:6)

⏰Tuesday of the Third Week of Advent (15 December 2020)
📖Zeph 3:1-2, 9-13; Ps 34:2-3, 6-7, 17-18, 19 and 23, (R.v.7a); Matt 21:28-32
🎤THE LOWLY ONE CALLED AND THE LORD HEARD HIM (cf. Ps 34:6)
The scripture says in 2 Chron 7:14, “If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and heal the land.”
The prophet Zephaniah reiterates this point in Zeph 3:1-13. The defiled, rebellious and oppressing city is invited to change her ways so that, “On that day [she] shall not be put to shame because of the deeds by which [she has] rebelled against [God]” (Zeph 3:11).
We are that defiled city, and the spirit of this Advent season invites us to repentance. We are called to follow the footsteps of the first son of a man, who was rebellious at first but changed later to do his father’s will (Matt 21:29).
As we turn to seek his face therefore, we pray that he may look upon us with mercy, hear our prayers and heal us, our families and our land. Amen.
Have a spiritually enriched and joyful day ahead. Peace be with you.
