“THE LOVE OF CHRIST URGES US ON” (2 Cor 5:14)
⏰Saturday of the Tenth Week of Ordinary Time 1 (17 June 2017)
????2 Cor 5:14-21; Ps 103:1-2, 3-4, 8-9, 11-12 (R.v.8a); Matt 5:33-37
What is your motivation in serving God? Miracle? Protection? I mean, “Is it just about your selfish interest or is it about the love of God?” What is it that has changed in you since you accepted Christ?
For some days we have been trying to decolonise our minds from too much attachment to the law which may block our view of what really matters – God. 1 John 4:16 tells us that God is love. So, to be closer to God, all we need is to live above the law as Jesus goes ahead to teach us in the Gospel and live in the love of God.
The type of love that we refer to is that which pushes out to look for faces in need as Christ would do without thinking about ourselves – sacrificial love. It is the kind of love that forgives even the unrepentant offender as Jesus did on the Cross (cf. Luke 23:34).
Can you see? It is not just about saying that you are a Christian. You need to really be a new creation who brings about transformation in creation. Your life must be able to give hope to the hopeless and be an epitome of mercy. In summary, we must be able to become another Christ, doing only those things which he would have done in any situation.
We cannot do all that with our own power. Therefore, we pray that Jesus may grant us a share of his heart of love so that we may live in love like him who is love. Amen.
Have a lovely weekend my dear. Peace be with you.
and with your spirit
