THE LORD WILL RULE THE WORLD WITH JUSTICE (Ps 9:9)

⏰Friday of the Twenty-Seventh Week of Ordinary Time 1 (13 October 2017)

????Joel 1:13-15, 2:1-2; Ps 9:2-3, 6 and 16, 8-9 (R.v.9a); Luke 11:15-26

Do you remember what we said yesterday about the wicked prospering while the just seem to be falling back? The prophet Malachi said that in the end, the wicked will surely weep. Hence, we are encouraged to persevere in the God of providence.

The prophet Joel threaded the same line as Malachi, but in his case, the doom’s day is very imminent. And the unfortunate thing is that even the wicked are waiting expectantly for that day, thinking that it will also offer them liberation. But it will instead bring them doom.

Note this! The Jews see themselves as the beloved of God, and that the Day of the Lord would be the day the Lord would liberate them from the hands of their enemies. But how would that be when they were actually working against him?

The evangelist Luke gives us one of such ways they worked against God (cf. Luke 11:15-26). That passage gives us the meaning of the sin against the Holy Spirit – ascribing the power of God to the devil. Remember that that sin is unforgivable (cf. Matt 12:31ff).

My dear, no matter how hard life becomes, hold firm to God; he is your refuge, and he will never abandon you. Never allow the devil to deceive you into worshipping him or ascribing God’s power to him.

With God by your side, you shall be a conqueror, both now and in the end. Amen.

I wish you a victorious day ahead. Peace be with you.
