“THE LORD, OUR GOD, IS THE ONE LORD” (Deut 6:4)
⏰Wednesday of the Third Week of Advent (14 December 2016 – Memorial of St. John of the Cross)
????Isa 45:6b-8, 18, 21b-25; Ps 85:9ab and 10, 11-12, 13-14, (R. see Isa 45:8); Luke 7:19-22
????”THE LORD, OUR GOD, IS THE ONE LORD” (Deut 6:4)
Fresh from the land of exile and slavery, where they experienced polytheism (the idea of many gods) and religious prostitution, the people of Israel needed to be reminded that they have only one God, who is able to do all things well for them, and under whom they shall experience victory and glory (see Isa 45:6-25).
That reminder is equally very important for us in our day, when great confusion abound, as to which voice we must listen listen to and follow. Is it the voice of money or other material acquisition? Is it the voice of fake miracle manufacturers? Or will you listen to the voice of Jesus no matter the seeming challenges of such allegiance?
No matter the challenges of life, fix your gaze only on Jesus who gives sight to the blind, makes the lame walk, cleanses the leper, raises the dead and preaches the good news to the poor (cf. Luke 7:22).
And as you place your trust and fix your gaze only in him, may that good news of salvation and breakthrough be preached into the very ugly and challenging situations of your life. Amen.
And may God teach us all his paths (cf. Ps 25:4) so that like St. John of the Cross, we may work for the wisdom of God and embrace holiness of life at all times. Amen.
It is well with you.
