🎤”PERFECT LOVE CASTS OUT FEAR” (1 John 4:18)
Can you feel the authoritative and compassionate way in which Jesus brought back calmness to his disciples when they were faced with sea turbulence (Mark 6:45-52)? He walked on top of the sea which means that he has power over the evil powers which are believed to have their dominion in the sea.
It is with that sense of authority that he told his disciples, “Take heart, it is I; have no fear” (Mark 6:50). That statement occurs 365 times in the scriptures, equaling the number of days in a year. That means that on a daily basis, God tells every troubled soul, “Take heart, it is I; have no fear.”
With such assurance, you can go through any storm of life. You only need to abide in God by loving him and then, you will be sure that Jesus would very close to you always for you to hear that assurance from him very often.
The only way to come closer to him is through love just as St John wrote, “God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him” (1John 4:16).
Notice also that when Jesus got to where the disciples were on the sea, he made as if he wanted to pass (Mark 6:48). He does not want to impose himself on us; he wants us to desire him.??
Do you desire to be with him, to love him? St Paul said that for those who love God, all things work together unto good (Rom 8:28).
As you make a decision today to love and abide in God, may he calm your fears and take care of any turbulence that wage war against our peaceful living. Amen.
Have a lovely day ahead. Peace be with you.
