⏰22 December 2020

📖1 Sam 1:24-28; 1 Sam 2:1, 4-5, 6-7, 8abcd (R.v.1a); Luke 1:46-56

This is always a day of thanksgiving for me. It is on this day, in 2014, that God saved me from a terrible accident which tore my car into pieces but miraculously left me without a scratch. Join me then singing praises to the Lord and in praying that I will always honour him with holiness of life.

Do you think that God has done any great thing for you? Have you ever thought of giving back something to him in appreciation?

Sometimes, many of us even go to the extent of making promises to God, as Hannah did, in order to receive favour from God;

👏Lord, if you let me get this favour, I will serve with my whole life;
👏Lord, let me pass this exam and I will praise your name for ever;
👏Lord, please let me get this job, I will give you my first salary, etc.

But what happens after God has granted us those desires? Some of us even forget to say “Thank you Lord.”

Learn something from Hannah and Mary today, and see that you cannot outdo God in generosity. Hannah gave Samuel his only son back to God (1 Sam 1:28) and became a mother of more children (1 Sam 2:21).

On her part, Mary gave God her time in service to the needy (Luke 1:39, 56; John 2:3-5) and all generation calls her blessed (Luke 1:42, 48; 11:28).

What have you given back to God for your life? It is not late yet. Go now and do something for him. Do not look for him in far away places. He is right beside you in the faces of the poor and less privileged.

As you do that, may you also have the cause to sing out in praises like Hannah (1 Sam 2:1-11) and Mary (Luke 1:46-55), amen.

Have a joyous and miraculous day ahead. Peace be with you.
