TRIBUTE AT GRAVESIDE OF LATE MR. CHARLES OBINNA EZEANOKETE
“Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord henceforth.” “Blessed indeed,” says the Spirit, “that they may rest from their labours, for their deeds follow them!” (Rev 14:13).
With such an assurance, we accept your death, Obinna, and we give all glory to God. Your life has been full of ups and downs; sometimes, failures appear to be the rule while pains become very overwhelming but you struggled on. There appeared to be a special attachment you had with mum because it was obvious she loved you more. She always prayed for God’s intervention in your life and indeed, on 7th March, 2017, God answered her prayers and took you to himself. Even though it is difficult for us to understand, we trust that the Lord who gave you the grace of perfect act of contrition on your death bed and enabled you to be anointed by the Priest would also be merciful to accept you in his bosom.
In your life, all we can see is victory despite the fact that the enemy would want us to see otherwise. Born on February 24, 1983, you made your family proud when you became a graduate of Public Administration with 2nd Class Upper from Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka at the age of 22. We expected that it was the beginning of more good things to come. Mummy prayed for you; we, your siblings prayed for you. But just while we were hoping that things are beginning to work out for the better, death calls.
Well, we are consoled that, like he did to the good thief on the Cross, Christ harvested you for himself on your death bed. Hence, we shout victoriously with St. Paul, “O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?” (1 Corinthians 15:56).
Obyno! Obyno!! Obyno!!! Ije Oma! You have surely gone to rest. No longer shall you suffer again. No more endless search for job; no more countless accident; no more pains. Most importantly, no more heartbreaks for you, for mum and for us. It is well with your soul.
