I WILL SEND YOU ELIJAH, THE PROPHET, BEFORE THE DAY OF THE LORD COMES
23 DECEMBER
?Mal 3:1-4, 4:5-6; Ps 25:4-5ab, 8-9, 10 and 14 (R. Luke 21:28); Luke 1:57-66
?”I WILL SEND YOU ELIJAH, THE PROPHET, BEFORE THE DAY OF THE LORD COMES” (Mal 3:23)
Still in the mood of thanksgiving. God has shown me so great love and I will continue to serve him till when it pleases him that I should breath my last. May his name be glorified both now and for ever. Amen.?
The Day of the Lord is seen as the day in which God is going to save Israel from the hand of their oppressors. The people waited eagerly for this day. Unfortunately, many of them turned themselves into enemies of God in that wait.?
The prophet Amos then changed their understanding of the Day of the Lord to now mean the day in which the Lord is going to bring judgement upon his enemies. That would include the foreign nations that oppress the people of God as well as those who do not do the will of the Lord (cf. Amos 5:18ff).?
So the Day of the Lord would mean joy to some but sorrow to others depending on how we live. This Day of the Lord can happen now even as you read this. Will it be joy or sorrow for you???
The good news is that the Lord promised to send us a prophet to prepare us before that day. But the sad news is that this prophet comes to us on a daily basis but we fail to recognize him. Those little experiences you have on daily basis, how serious are they to you? Do you hear the voice of prophecy in them calling you to God??
May God give us the grace to be prepared at all times for the day of his coming to us. Amen.?
I wish a grace-filled day. It is well with you.?
