🎤CALLED TO A SACRIFICIAL AND SELFLESS WITNESSING

As the end of the earthly life of Jesus drew near, he needed to ensure that his disciples’ confidence is harnessed well to face surely-impending challenges of life without him. He did this by reminding them and clarifying for them that it was God who called and chose them. He first of all explained his relationship with the Father so as to now teach them how to relate with the Father also.

This relationship is explained on the basis of love (John 15:9-17) and the fact of being chosen to participate in this love. His relationship with the Father has its foundation on love. The love he meant there is sacrificial and selfless love (cf. John 15:13).

So anyone chosen to be a disciple of Christ must embrace this sacrificial and selfless love (see John 15:14). Judas obviously lacked this even though he was following Christ. Hence, when he had gone to take his rightful position, Matthias was chosen in cooperation with Holy Spirit to replace Judas.

Through our embrace of Christian faith and Baptism, we have equally been called and chosen, but to follow Christ in our different states in life. In what you do, try to show love because that is the way we can make the face of Jesus ever present in the world.

Have a lovely day ahead with Jesus. Peace be with you.
