ALL THE ENDS OF THE EARTH HAVE SEEN THE SALVATION OF OUR GOD
THE SOLEMNITY OF THE NATIVITY OF THE LORD – CHRISTMAS DAY
?Isa 52:7-10; Ps 98:1, 2-3ab, 3cd-4, 5-6 (R.v.3cd)
?”ALL THE ENDS OF THE EARTH HAVE SEEN THE SALVATION OF OUR GOD” (Ps 98:3)
Celebrating this year’s Christmas within the Jubilee Year of Mercy, we are invited to reflect on the great love of God, the Father, which pushed him to send his only begotten son into the world and allow him to die for our sake. In that way, we are called to imitate that great mercy by being its agents towards others.???
The prophet Isaiah tells us about this child, The government will be upon his shoulder, and his name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace (Isa 9:6).✨
His presence on earth brings joy to all (Luke 2:10) because great peace follows the announcement of his birth (Luke 2:14) and his coming would bring an abundance of mercy, giving good news to the poor, healing for the brokenhearted, deliverance to the captives, sight to the blind, liberty to the prisoners and proclaiming a Jubilee Year of Mercy to all (cf. Luke 4:18-19).?
When the Israelites returned from exile, they were filled with so much joy at this salvation, and then bursted out praising God (cf. Isa 52:7-10).??????
That is the great joy we share at Christmas. Are you making others have a feel of it by giving wonderful counsel to people around you? Are you giving people the reason to believe in the protective, merciful and fatherly care of God? Are you a channel for peace??
It is in those ways that we can make the Word to take flesh (see John 1:1-18) in our world and especially, among the suffering. If people do not experience joy after encountering us, then our celebration can be said to be faulty.?
I wish you great joy on this day and beyond. Happy Christmas. It is well with you.??
