“A PROPHET IS NOT WITHOUT HONOUR EXCEPT IN HIS OWN COUNTRY AND IN HIS OWN HOUSE” (Matt 13:57)
⏰Friday of the Seventeenth Week of Ordinary Time 2 (03 August 2018)
đź“–Jer 26:1-9; Ps 69:5, 8-10, 14 (R.v.14c); Matt 13:54-58
Overfamiliarity has indeed been the bane of many people; many have lost their blessings through that. Jeremiah’s message was probably rejected today because the people knew where he comes from (see Jer 26:1-9). In the same way, Jesus was not also recognized among his own people, and because of that, he did not performe many miracles there (cf. Matt 13:54-58).
Obviously, the present rate of decline in faith in the world could not be completely dissociated from the development of local clergy and ministers of the gospel. Like the Israelites of Jeremiah’s time, we have become selective of the word of God because we are very familiar with the mouth that utters them.
It is my prayer that the evil of overfamiliarity might not hinder us from reaching the place of breakthrough which God is leading us to through our brothers and sisters. And may God make all the ministers of the gospel dedicated and effective in the work of evangelization. Amen.
Have a blessed day ahead. Peace be with you.
Did Mary died a vigin, did she have other children? Yes /no. Where can we find it that jesus didn’t have other brothers and sisters.
