YOU SHALL WEEP NO MORE! (Isa 30:19)

⏰Saturday of the First Week of Advent (09 December 2017)

????Isa 30:19-21, 23-26; Ps 147:1-2, 3-4, 5-6 (R. Isa 30:18); Matt 9:35 – 10:1, 5a, 6-8

My dear, listen to Isaiah talking to all of us, Blessed are all those who wait for the Lord (Isa 30:18).

The people of Israel had neglected Gods earlier warnings against forming alliance with foreign nations (see Isa 7). Here, in Isa 30:18-26, the prophet tries to assure the people that God has not given up on them, and that if they come back to God and remain with him, he will wipe their tears and make them prosper in the Land.

Look at the story of the Prodigal Son (Luke 15:11-32) as a good example of what Isaiah is saying there. When the son left the fathers house even against the fathers will, he went into great suffering. But the father never gave up on him. In fact, from the attitude of the father in Luke 15:20, we could see that the father was even looking out for him to come back.

Gods compassion for us is so enormous. That compassion moves him to carry our troubles all by himself (cf. Matt 9:35 10:1). Remember that in order to benefit from that, we must wait for him. Waiting for him means repenting from our sins and trusting in God.

As you wait for the Lord, may he dry your tears and take care of your different troubles so that your songs would be that of joy at the victory won. Amen.

Have a happy and restful weekend. Peace be with you.
