GOD DOES NOT CHANGE

⏰Friday of the Twenty-Sixth Week of Ordinary Time 2 (05 October 2018)

📖Job 38:1, 12-21, 40:3-5; Ps 139:1-3, 7-8, 9-10, 13-14ab (R.v.24b); Luke 10:13-16

May the grace and peace of Christ dwell with you always. Amen.

I do not know what you are going through in life; you might be facing difficulties as much as the biblical Job did face, but know that God is always with you (cf. Matt 28:20).

In the midst of all his afflictions, Job’s friends tried to fill his mind with a wrong idea of the person of God. That forced Job to begin to reason that God has changed his ways towards him. But God changes not! God’s reply to him (Job 38:1ff) serves as a re-catechesis of that fact that God does not change.

That message is also meant for you. Hard situations in life can suggest to you that God has become elusive but I encourage you to make the prophecy of Isaiah yours when he says, “It shall come to pass in the latter days…” (Isa 2:2).

Jesus already told us that as long as we are in the world, trials and sorrow must hunt us. But he encouraged us not to lose hope because he has already conquered the world (see John 16:16-33). The psalmist also tells us also that it has never been said that the righteous was forsaken nor his children abandoned to beg (Ps 37:25).

So never you get wearied when things seem to be falling apart for you. Just remember that there is God who always cares for you. He sees all your afflictions and will never let you suffer alone.

I pray that God may look upon you with mercy today and beyond. May he hearken to your supplications before him and give you the grace to love him more. Amen.

Have a stress free day ahead. Peace be with you.
